Causes and Remedies to Cycling Pains

If you are experiencing hip pains, the common cause is you're pushing yourself excessively on high gears. Aside from hip pains, this practice can also lead to tight muscles and weak buttocks. The best option for you is to increase your cadence and gear backwards to ease some pressure off your hips during long pedals cycling. You can also make some yoga pigeon position to ease the pain.

On the other hand, when you experience foot pain, the most probable cause is that the fat pads on your feet, which protects the nerves, shrink. If you are already experiencing numb toes, or pain under the ball of your foot, it's time to loosen your cycling shoe. If it still doesn't work, try having a wider shoe or the one with stiffer soles. It is also advisable to change your foot beds regularly after you have already done pedals cycling 4,500 miles or higher.

Putting too much weight on your hand during pedals cycling can easily lead to hand pains. Aside from too much pressure, cocking your wrists at extreme angles can also cause numb and tingly fingers and wrists pains. The remedy that you can do is to wear lightly padded gloves. You must also check the position of your saddles and make a quick adjustment if its nose is tipped down. You must also hold the handle bars with your wrists in a neutral position to get the pressure off your hands during long cycling rides.

Whenever you are already experiencing back pains during and after pedals cycling, it's time to check proper bike fit. See to it that you are not reaching too far whenever you cycle. Aside from poor bike fit, pain and strain can also be caused by fatigue and a weak core. Back pains are more common to older people due to the body's natural wear and tear. Be sure also to redo your riding positions as the body losses flexibility when cyclists grow old. As for the exercises, hamstring stretching can be good as well as plank exercises that will strengthen your core.

Knee pains are also common especially to newbie cyclists. This is caused by incorrect saddle or cleat positions or doing rigid pedals cycling routine even at early biking stages. Weak outer buttocks can also cause such pains. Remedy it by doing lateral leg exercises. Front knee pains are caused by too low saddles. If the pain is on the back, make sure your saddle is not too high.
