You Can Jog Your Way To Survival

Not everyone wants to jog, not anyone can jog, and furthermore not everyone should jog. In some parts of the world, nobody jogs, and what's more, not a twinge of guilt is felt about it. Even in our jogging culture, not everyone who wears jogging shoes jogs, which may help explain some of the inconsistencies, in our estimate of the numbers who run. Finally, some people become ex joggers, either from injury or distaste, so, before it happens on you, you should not forget to bring with you outdoor survival gear in case you will encounter health concerns along the way.

Actually, when exercise first became a valid subject for scientific investigation, it wasn't running that was studied but walking. Besides being the one fitness activity in which most people can participate, it was the area upon which the focused began to look at the link between exercise and heart disease. It was found out that fewer of those who walked suffered fatal heart attacks as compared with those who remained seated in their jobs; postman versus sedentary postal workers, for instance, or bus conductors versus bus drivers.

Activities which burn approximately three hundred calories per day- the equivalent of a brisk and enjoyable walk for about an hour- results in a remarkably lowered chance for heart attacks. It is also important to understand that these things should go well with proper outdoor survival equipment. There is no way anyone can predict what a given person's absolute chance of developing an illness such as heart disease might be.

This simple statistical relationship is relatively constant throughout the highly developed countries of the world, where being seated is the generally accepted norm of working activity. If walking is so good and since it's obviously a safe physical activity, why even bother to training for more demanding sports?

Some believe that more strenuous exercise on a regular basis will result in even greater reduction in risk for a heart attack. But beyond this, it also prepares us for the major physical and emotional stresses which can occur in our lives. These stresses sometimes place a severe demand upon the heart, as well as on other organs, and it is good to be prepared with the basic survival training for those occasional demands. And while walking provides the proper basis for all activity, by itself it is not enough to achieve high performance level.
